The Bobby Orr Hall of Fame completed its redesign in 2023. The redesign, supported by a $494,250 Tourism Recovery Grant from FedNor and a Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation Rural Enhancement Fund grant of $94,350, has created a space where visitors can engage with the legacy of Bobby Orr in a variety of ways. A key focus of this redesign has been the re-interpretation of the Bobby Orr story for a broader audience.
New features include:
- The “Island Hopping” interactive activity that allows visitors to explore the unique natural landscape of the Parry Sound area through digital means
- A partnership with Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame that includes two digital interactives, “The Evolution of Ice Hockey” and “Ask the Athlete” where visitors can learn more about sports history and sports science.
- A new exhibition space that focuses on Indigenous athletes and culture, reflecting the Truth and Reconciliation Commission Call to Action #87.
The new design is sleek, modern, and interactive – creating an exciting space that offers something new around every corner.
The museum now explores themes such as sports, values, and community in a broader context whilst still maintaining a focus on the legacy of Bobby Orr. Through new interpretation, the Hall of Fame creates a story that can resonate with audiences across all ages and interests.
